New Delhi: The Supreme Court has made it clear that the Right to Information (RTI) Act is applicable to Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Dismissing a plea challenging a High Court order stating that the Public Service Commission comes under the ambit of RTI Act, the Supreme Court ordered that an applicant must be provided all information except the identity of the evaluators.
The Supreme Court rejected PSC’s argument that its workload and expenses would go up and the secrecy of the exam would be affected once the institution is brought under the ambit of RTI Act.
The apex court also dismissed other contentions put forward by KPSC. A constitutional organisation like KPSC should be above suspicion, it noted.
