Thrissur | An ambulance carrying CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan, who was being shifted to the Sri Chitra Institute in Thiruvananthapuram for expert treatment, met with accident in Thrissur.
Jayarajan, who is under remand in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case, was being taken to Thiruvananthapuram after doctors at Kozhikode Medical College recommended expert advice on his health condition.
The ambulance’s tyres were burst and the vehicle rammed into a divider at Peramangalam near Thrissur. He was admitted to Amala Medical College after he complained of uneasiness.
CPM Thrissur district secretary demanded that Jayarajan be shifted to Thiruvananthapuram in a train as there were safety concerns, but police insisted on proceeding in ambulance itself.
The vehicle left Amala Medical College hospital for Thiruvananthapuram Wednesday morning with Jayarajan after he was discharged.
