Kochi: Nearly 2,000 petrol pumps in Kerala will remain closed from midnight today as the All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders has called an indefinite strike to protest the oil companies’ stance of not renewing license for petrol pumps.
Federation President Thomas Vaidyan said it decided to begin the strike after a third round of talks with the IOC officials to settle the issue failed.
Long queues formed in many petrol pumps in the state as vehicle owners scrambled to refill fuel ahead of the shut-down.
Only bunks directly run by oil companies and Consumerfed will remain open from tomorrow.
