Mumbai | Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer romance drama Bajirao Mastani is leading the TOIFA music category nominations with eight nods, followed by Dum Lagake Haisha Hamari Adhuri Kahani. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film has snagged nominations in the best album category, best playback singer Male, best playback singer Female, music composer of the year and song of the year.
Interestingly, Bhansali has bagged two nominations in the music composer of the year category for songs ‘Deewani Mastaani’ and ‘Aayat’ while he is also nominated for best album. Similarly, Shreya Ghoshal is nominated thrice in the best playback singer category (Female) for ‘Pinga’, ‘Deewani Mastani’, and ‘Mohe Rang do Lal’ from ‘Bajirao’.
Arijit Singh also has three nominations in the best playback singer (Male) category but for three different films, ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahaani’, ‘Ayat’ from ‘Bajirao’ and Chunar from ‘ABCD 2′. Other than ‘Bajirao’, the best album category has nominees like ‘Roy’, ‘Tamasha’, ‘ABCD 2′ and ‘Badlapur’. Best lyricist category has Varun Grover (Moh Moh Ke Dhaage), Irshad Kamil (Agar Tum Saath Ho), Rashmi Singh (Hamari Adhuri Kahani) and Gulzar for ‘Zinda’. Dum Lagake Haisha has also earned nominations for Papon in the best playback singer category while Monali Thakur is female playback singer nominee.
Song of the year nominees are Sooraj Dooba Hai (Roy), Gerua (Dilwale), Moh Moh Ke Dhaage (Dum Lagake Haisha), Jeena Jeena (Badlapur), Deewani Mastani (Bajirao Mastani) and Hamari Adhuri Kahani (Hamari Adhuri Kahani) TOIFA 2016 will take place in Dubai on March 18 at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai Sports City.
