Chalakkudy | Police have sealed an outhouse in Chalakkudy, where Kalabhavan Mani was found unconscious. Dog squad and forensic experts had a close look at Mani’s outhouse named “Paadi”, on the shores of Chalakkudy River, and collected samples. The area has been put under special surveillance by the police.
A special police team headed by K. Sudarsanan DySP, Thrissur administration, has been formed to probe the death of the film artist in dubious circumstances.
Chalakkudy police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Doctors had deposed before police that intoxicants, including poisonous content methyl alcohol, were found in Mani’s body. Methyl alcohol is found in spurious liquor. Mani was hospitalized in drunken state, police say.
Thrissur Rural SP, K. Karthik said that the police are investigating if it was a suicide attempt.
Police said the cause of the death will be clear once they receive postmortem report.
Meanwhile, a hartal is being observed in Mani’s home town Chalakudy in respect to him.
