Thiruvananthapuram | A cabinet meeting of the Kerala government has decided to cancel the sanction given to fill Methran Kaayal, an ecologically sensitive paddy field near Kumarakam, for construction purposes.
A Government order sanctioning filling of marshy land in Kadamakkudi in Kochi was also withdrawn.
The meeting decided to review a decision taken in a Cabinet meeting held on February 25 passing permission for these two projects.
Following strong criticism against the government move, including from KPCC President VM Sudheeran,
Tourism Minster had asked the Government to freeze the controversial order.
Permission was given to fill 378 acres in Methran Kayal of Upper Kuttanad for an eco-tourism project, and fill 47 acres of marshy land in Kadamakkudi for the construction of medicity, a multi-speciality hospital.
