Kozhikode | Kerala Congress (M) will stake claim for Thiruvambady seat in the Assembly polls. The party is ready to leave Perambra, Thaliparamb and Alathur seats for either Thiruvambady or Irikoor, according to PT Jose, a senior KC (M) leader in Malabar said Monday.
He was quoted as saying that this demand will be raised at UDF seat-sharing talks to be held later in the day.
Thiruvambady is already a headache for UDF, with the Malayora Vikasana Samithi refusing to accept Muslim League candidate in the constituency. The farmers’ action council, which has considerable influence in the plantation sector in Malabar, has already threatened to field its own candidates in Thiruvambady and a few other potential seats in case Muslim League doesn’t withdraw.
