Kannoor | Thalassery Principal Sessions court has granted interim bail to CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case.
Principal Sessions court judge V.G. Anil Kumar Wednesday admitted a bail application submitted by Jayarajan’s counsel considering the ailing leader’s health condition, setting out a number of strict conditions.
Jayarajan has been barred from entering Kannur district for a period of 2 months or until a charge sheet is filed in his case. He must also appear before the CBI team investigating his case, when summoned.
The court directed Jayarajan not to persuade or threaten witnesses in the case.
The court has warned that his bail will be cancelled if any of these conditions are violated.
CBI counsel opposed the move to grant bail to Jayarajan, and said it will approach High Court questioning the lower court’s order.
Jayarajan surrendered before Thalassery additional sessions court last month after Kerala High Court refused to entertain his anticipatory bail petition.
After several hospitalizations for medical checkup, CBI questioned Jayarajan at Kannoor Central Jail on March 11.
Jayarajan, who has undergone cardio-vascular surgery, is currently undergoing treatment at Kannur ayurveda hospital.
