Vadakara | Prominent visual media journalist and CPM (independent) candidate in Azhikode Assembly seat, M.V. Nikesh Kumar has made it clear that he is entering politics not as a media man, but leaving journalism.

He was speaking to reporters Thursday at the residence of former MP P. Sathidevi, where he visited P. Jayarajan MLA seeking his blessings to begin his election campaigning.

P Jayarajan is currently staying at the residence of his sister P Satidevi in Vadakara as he is banned by the Sessions court in Thalassery from entering Kannoor district.

The CPM Kannoor District Secretary was granted bail in the Kathirur Manoj murder case.

Jayarajan expressed hope that CPM can regain Azhikode seat with Nikesh Kumar’s candidature.

Other LDF candidates — K K Shylaja, Binoy Kurien and MN Shamseer also accompanied Nikesh Kumar to seek Jayarajan’s blessings.

Nikesh Kumar, who is Managing Director of Reporter TV news channel, earlier said in a face book post that journalism was part of his political activism.
