Dehradun | In view of upcoming holiday season, Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul today asked the tourism and PWD departments to line up within 15 days facilities for visitors at all places of tourist and religious interest in the state. Issuing instructions to this effect at a joint meeting with the secretaries of the two departments, Paul said all arrangements should be put in place within 15 days and additional amenities required should also be provided, an official release here said.
With its abundant natural splendour, Uttarakhand is an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers from all over the country and abroad. We have in our state shrines like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib and Piran Kaliyar which attract pilgrims of various faiths and we get an opportunity to welcome them, he said.
Providing better facilities to pilgrims and tourists and making their visit safe would encourage them to come back to Uttarakhand again, he said. Keeping this in view, both short-term and long-term schemes should be prepared for nature, adventure and spiritual tourism to make the experience memorable for the visitors and beneficial for the state, Paul said.
Care should be taken to provide transport, communication, boarding, lodging and potable water facilities en route to major tourist and religious destinations besides ensuring safety and security of visitors, he said.
