Kochi | The fireworks at Puttingal Temple was carried on without Permission. The permission was denied by the district magistrate earlier as the authorities felt it was too risky to conduct such fire works.

The Chief Minister said that the district collector of Kollam had not given permission to conduct the fireworks. Police sources said a case has been registered against temple authorities and explosive licencees under section 307 (Attempt to murder), and 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide) of IPC and under section 4 of Explosives Substances Act.

The question is who mislead the situation. Safety regulations were also violated. One of the crackers fell into the heap of crackers and then all of sudden the explosion took place, officials said.

The buliding along with the Dewason board building has been completely collapsed and completely damaged. Intensity was so high, tremors were felt 2 km away from the temple.

Judicial prob is on. Chandy along with other ministers will hold a cabinet meeting by 3 pm to go in detail about the probe.
