Kollam | The death toll in the Paravoor fireworks tragedy has risen to 108 as two of those who sustained severe burns died Monday morning.
Vinod (34), hailing from Pallippuram, died in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital, while Prasannan (45) from Paravoor died earlier the day in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram
In all, 132 people injured in the fireworks explosion are admitted in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital. Of them, eight are admitted in burn ICU, and all but one are critically serious.
Kazhakkootam native Surendran, a licensee of the Puttingal Devi temple fireworks program, is also admitted there with critical injuries.
20 people who died in the accident are still not unidentified. Six bodies are kept in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital mortuary, eight bodies are kept in Karunagappally Taluk hospital, four bodies are kept in Kollam District hospital, and one each in Kollam Medi City and a hospital in Punalur. Their DNA samples were collected for identification.
