Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Director General of Police TP Senkumar has reportedly said that he had raised objection to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the site of fireworks explosion in Paravoor , which claimed the lives of over 100 people.

Senkumar told a private news channel that he had raised red flag to the visit saying it will affect rescue operations. On receiving information that the leaders are planning to visit the tragedy site on Sunday, he pointed out to the Special Protection Group and state authorities that the visit may be postponed to the next day as police were busy co-coordinating relief and rescue operations and their focus should not divert to providing security to the Prime Minister’s visit.

But since the Prime Minister insisted on the visit the same day, he had no other choice, Senkumar was quoted as saying.
