Kochi | Three persons have been reportedly taken into custody in connection with the heinous rape and murder of law student Jisha in Kuruppampadi near Perumbavoor.
Police is said to be questioning two casual workers from outside Kerala and a neighbor of Jisha, who are suspected to be involved in the incident. They were brought to DYSP office in Perumbavoor.
Meanwhile, protests are taking place in different parts of the state over the murder that shook the human conscience.
Scheduled Castes and Tribes Commission has registered a case suo motto in connection with the death of Jisha, and ordered the government to deploy a special investigation team to probe the incident.
Also on Tuesday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said strict action will be taken against those responsible for the murder of Jisha.
He added that the case will be probed by Central Zone IG of Police. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala is expected to visit Jisha’s home this afternoon, he said.
