New Delhi | Concerned over use of unparliamentary words by members, an exasperated Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today wondered whether she would have to take a class of the lawmakers on the issue.
Mahajan made the observation during Zero Hour when BJP member Sanjay Jaiswal used an objectionable word while referring to the Medical Council of India. Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu immediately drew the Chair’s attention to the word and said if it is not expunged, it would find its way in the newspapers tomorrow.
This prompted Speaker to observe that while it was always her endeavour. She said that the members themselves should observe self restrain on using objectionable words or she would have to take a class.
Jaiswal was objecting to the medical examination being conducted by the MCI, which has been caught in a controversy.
