Kozhikode | Four people have died before or after exercising their franchise in the Kerala Assembly election on Monday.
An elderly man died of cardiac arrest this morning while waiting to cast his vote at a polling station in Perambra, about 38 kilometers from here, police said. Kaithampoil Kunjabdulla Abdullah Haji (70), who was standing in queue to exercise his franchise at a booth near C K G College in Perambra, all of a sudden collapsed, Perambra police said. He was rushed to Perambra government hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Polling started in the city and suburbs in a brisk note with many polling booths witnessing huge crowds amidst overcast condition.
Idukki Ambalamed native Shobahanabhavan Ramakrishnan (50) died as he collapsed after casting his vote in Udumbanchola.
Ponnani Eeshawramangalam Velayudhan (65) died as he collapsed after voting.
Balan (58), who hails from Panoor, died while returning home after casting his vote.
