Thiruvananthapuram | Veteran CPM leader and prominent trade union leader K. Anirudhan (91) has died.
The death occurred at his house ‘Grace Cottage’ in Vazhuthakkad by 11. 40 pm Sunday.
He will be cremated at Thykkad Shanthi kavaadam Monday evening.
He is survived by his wife Sudharma and children A. Sambath MP and Kasthuri.
Anirudhan, who was elected to the Kerala Assembly in 1963, was termed by the media as ‘giant killer’ after defeating Chief Minister R. Shankar, contesting the election while in jail.
He became an MP in 1967. His speeches in Loksabha during 1967-70 were notable. He was jailed many times during his political struggles.
Aniruddhan, who was under treatment for long for acute diabetes, had his leg amputated four years ago.
