Kerala’s CM-designate vows corruption-free administration, without bias

Thiruvananthapuram | Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the new CPI (M)-led LDF government will be a government of the people of Kerala irrespective of caste, religion or political differences.

He promised a corruption-free administration at the first news conference he called after he was elected the new Chief Minister.

Public’s conscience should be with the govt., which in turn, will rule for all sections of the society.

Pinarayi made it clear that even if someone claiming to be close to him approaches for an out of way favor, it will be considered as corruption. He indicated that this is applicable also to personal staff of ministers.

He called on the Opposition to work together with the new Government for the welfare of the people.

Everyone has the right in this government and society should understand that if people turn their back, democratic process will not be complete. It is the people’s cooperation which strengthens democracy, he said, asserting that government will function for justice, brotherhood, prosperity and growth.

The new Government will be sworn in at a ceremony to be held at the Central stadium at 4 pm on Wednesday.
Pinarayi Vijayan said CPM national leaders Sitaram Yechuri and Prakash Karat will take part in the function.

After the swearing-in, the first cabinet would meet by around 6.30 PM, he said.

Pinarayi said he will meet the Governor tomorrow morning with the list of ministers and their portfolios.

After this, the CM, along-with the Communist ministers-designate, will offer floral tributes at the Memorial of Punnapra-Vayalar uprising martyrs in Alappuzha.

Pinarayi began the press conference by distributing sweets to the media marking his birthday

He told reporters that his date of birth was wrongly entered in school records, but the actual date of birth is 24th May, 1945.
