Kozhikode | Three teenaged boys died and five others injured today when a lorry overturned and crashed into a car near Virajpet in Karnataka, police said.
Ten persons, all in the age group of 17-19, were on their way from Vadakara in Kozhikode district to Bengaluru when the accident occurred at Perumpady around 3-30 am, Virajpet police said.
The young friends were on a holiday trip, reports say.
The driver of the lorry, carrying ginger bottles from Mysuru to Thalassery in Kannur district, lost control of the vehicle and it overturned and crashed into the car, they said.
The deceased have been identified as Minas, Yasin and Ashiq. Their bodies have been kept at Virajpet hospital.
The injured were admitted to hospitals at Mysuru, Virajpet and Iritty in Kannur district while two others escaped unhurt, police said, adding, the lorry driver was absconding.
