UDF retains power in Kasaragod; BJP stages upset victory in 2 seats

Thiruvananthapuram | LDF and BJP have improved their seats tally in the by-election held to 15 seats in local bodies in Kerala.

LDF won 7 seats, BJP won five seats and UDF won three seats.

BJP candidates staged upset in ward 13 of Manarkad panchayath in Kottayam, and in Civil Station ward in Cherthala Municipality. BJP opened its account in Cherthala through D. Jyothis.

But BJP lost its sitting seat in the by-election held to Chakkamkulangara Division of Thrippoonithura Municipality. UDF candidate Shabarigireeshan won by 94 votes here.

UDF retained power in Kasaragod District Panchayath as its candidate Shanavas Paadoor won in Uduma Division.
