Rajkot | Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) today launched ‘mobile court’ to hand out on-the-spot punishment to those violating health and sanitation norms.

Principal District Judge I C Shah flagged off the court — a mini-bus which will have on board a judicial magistrate, policemen, a clerk and an RMC employee.

“RMC’s efforts to keep the city clean will get a boost with the launch of the mobile court as it will punish those violating norms of health and sanitation on the spot,” Commissioner Vijay Nehra said.

“RMC had urged the state government to allow such a facility to keep the city clean, and the government approved,” he added.

The civic body will bear all the expenses of the mobile court.

The court will ply in various parts of the city and will fine people spotted littering, Nehra said.
Rajkot District Collector Vikrant Pandey, Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, Rajkot rural SP Antrip Sood were among those present during the flagging off ceremony.
