Mumbai | UM Motorcycles have launched two of their products in India, the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S. Now, the American-born motorcycle brand is planning to launch its third and subsequent motorcycle models in India.
So, the third product will be the Renegade Classic, likely to be followed by an adventure tourer. The Renegade Classic will be a cruiser, scheduled for a launch in early 2017, whose introduction took place at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
The cruiser will get fuel-injection and ABS equipment, though the latter might be offered as an option to make available flexible options in pricing. With the launch, bookings will commence by January 2017, while deliveries will begin by April 2017.
Along with the Renegade Classic cruiser, Renegade Commando and the Sport S models will also be offered with fuel injection in special variants. The Classic will be powered by the same 278 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 25 PS and 22 Nm of torque.
However, in the Classic, the engine might be tuned to deliver a slightly higher output, which will then be transferred to the wheels through a six-speed gearbox. Besides these changes with the mechanics of the cruiser, the visual elements will also be the same as that of the Commando.
As a cruiser, it will wield a windshield for added protection to help ride on all types of roads as well as add to the style quotient of the motorcycle. However, the ABS will come across as an option instead of being a standard equipment. With these features, expect the Renegade Classic to price around Rs. 1.8-2 lakh (ex-showroom).
UM Motorcycles opened its fifth dealership recently in Mumbai, while also planning to launch more such dealerships across the country to retail a wide portfolio of motorcycles, all over India.
