Mumbai | Launched in just August 23, the new generation Hyundai Elantra has had 500 bookings within a month. The company had started bookings much before the launch, in early August. So now, Hyundai reveals that it has had 500 bookings for the new Elantra.
The new generation Elantra is offered in five trims, the S, SX, SX AT, SX (O) and the SX (O) AT. The price starts at Rs. 12.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 19.19 lakh for the top-spec variant (ex-showroom prices, Delhi).
Hyundai also offers the new Elantra with two engine options. The 1.6-litre diesel engine that creates 126 bhp of power is offered as the diesel variant. And as the petrol variant, the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, MPI, petrol mill making 147 bhp is offered. While the diesel mill comes from the Creta SUV, the petrol motor is a new engine. The engines get mated alternately to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic as options.
Still, the trends in the sales of the new Elantra reflects the market preference for petrol engines, as the now-lifted diesel bans caused negative sentiments among car buyers. So, the Elantra has sold 60 percent with petrol motors, while the diesel cars sold 40 percent.
The new Hyundai Elantra has also been successful due to the Korean carmaker marketing this compact sedan as a premium offering. Despite that, one can say that it has even brought in a lot of fresh concepts and changes to the segment like spacious interiors, etc.
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is also based on the Hyundai’s new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design traits. It’s also one of the pioneering models with the new hexagonal grille of the Hyundai. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth, AUX, USB Connectivity, Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. are some of the higher-end interior equipment of the new-gen Elantra.
