Nitish cabinet paves way for launch of student credit card

Patna | The Bihar government gave its approval to the launch of student credit card scheme for the students passing Class 12th exam, under which they will get an interest free loan of Rs four lakh for pursuing higher studies.

The approval for the student credit card scheme was given at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here.

Bihar government is all set to launch the scheme from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

The programme forms an important component of the CM’s ‘seven resolves’ which has been adopted by the grand secular alliance government as its policy of governance.

The cabinet also gave nod to 17 proposals of different departments at the meeting.

A proposal of the home department to pay compensation to victims of the Gopalganj hooch tragedy was also approved. A total of 18 people had died in the incident on that happened on August 16 and 17.

In an another decision the cabinet gave its nod for construction of boundary wall around temples.
