Thiruvananthapuram | E P Jayarajan, who resigned as Industries Minister amid appointment row, alleged that the Opposition haunted him with the support of media.
“”Opposition had thirst for my blood”, EP Jayarajan said in an emotional speech in the assembly on Monday.
The party strongman from Kannur was making a statement explaining the appointment controversy which rocked the CPI(M)-led LDF government leading to his resignation.
“”Corruption was strong in industries department. After assuming charge as Industries Minister, I took necessary actions against that. Naturally, it created several enemies. Many tried to influence me. Media is haunting me for the past 12 days. I have followed and respected all the legal formalities in making appointments in public institutions”, the ex Minister told the House.
After the resignation, Jayarajan’s seat was changed to the second row, and he got a chance to speak as per section 64.
Jayarajan, who posted some of his relatives in key positions in public sector units while he was the Industries Minister, resigned on October 14, dealing a blow to the 142-day-old Pinarayi Vijayan government.
The Kerala Assembly Budget session resumed Monday after Pooja holidays.
The full-fledged Budget session of the Assembly that began on September 26 ended on a stormy note on October 5 with the UDF stepping up pressure over the self-financing private medical college fees and admission issue.
The UDF members had disrupted and later boycotted the proceedings over the issue.
