Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas says that he stands firm on his decision to resign from the post, even as hectic discussions are going on at government level whether to accept it.
When media asked him Wednesday about the resignation news, he said, “Each day breaks with a new heaven and a new earth.” He recalled what he said earlier: “Yesterday’s truth may turn not to be truth today.” The reputed IPS officer insisted that he stands firm on his decision to resign.
On Tuesday, a day after allegations of financial irregularities cropped up against him, Jacob Thomas wrote to Additional Chief Secretary Nalini Netto, urging her to relieve him from the post, citing personal reasons.
Today, Nalini Netto discussed the matter with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is the authority to take the final decision in the matter.
Earlier, Jacob Thomas had dismissed the allegations of financial irregularities against him in connection with a solar power project during his previous stint as the Ports Director. He had also alleged that some vested interests were behind the charges.
The official had said those who indulged in corruption were making all efforts to oust him from the post of Vigilance Director.
