Mumbai | The much-awaited and the much-spoken about Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS is awaiting its launch in the next few weeks. It first debuted in the 2016 Auto Expo, where it was showcased, while Maruti Suzuki announced that it would launch the Baleno RS during the festive season.
The Baleno RS will be leading to plenty of changes in the Maruti Suzuki’s plans for the manufacture of hatchbacks and premium hatchbacks. It will likely ignite production processes in Maruti’s new plants, which will likely begin production in the first quarter of 2017.
Maruti Suzuki has a huge backlog with many of its models due to its ever high volume demand. The Baleno too has been quite a success for Maruti Suzuki that it commands a six to eight plus months waiting period.
However, Maruti Suzuki has been accepting bookings with a deposit of Rs. 11,000 at its premium NEXA outlets. The premium dealership now also provides an option that the booking can be changed to Baleno RS, even if the booking is originally done for the Baleno.
When the Baleno RS gets launched, the buyer can switch to the new Baleno RS instead of the Baleno. However, there is no official confirmation from the Maruti Suzuki on this offer.
The most important feature that buyers will look forward to is the 1.0-litre Boosterjet, turbocharged engine, whose European version makes 110 hp of power and 160 Nm of torque. The Suzuki’s much-coveted engine will debut in the Baleno RS in India.
The new powertrain will expectedly provide a better mileage than the Baleno 1.2-litre K-Series motor, which already provides a steep 21.4 kmpl. Being a premium model, the Baleno RS will have the ABS, EBD, fual front airbags, touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system, automatic climate control, projector headlamps, etc. which are already offered in the Baleno.
