New Delhi | A woman stripped in front of a massive queue outside an ATM in Mayur Vihar Phase 3 on Wednesday. Tired of waiting outside the ATM for very long, she took on the ‘responsibility’ of protesting against the shortage of money all over the country.

Bystanders, quite a lot of them, as one can imagine the scene outside an ATM these days, were shocked as the woman stripped off her shirt and protested against the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

The woman was then taken away by some women constables of the Ghazipur Police Station after being covered up immediately. She was later able to withdraw money from a nearby ATM the Police’s help. The incident occurred within minute’s distance of the New Ashok Nagar Police Station. The Police claimed that the woman was a transgender.

People have been agitated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of scrapping Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes overnight.

Long queues have been spotted outside ATMs and banks ever since the announcement was made by the Prime Minister. While the step has been lauded in various spheres as a necessary step to curb down the flow of black money in the country, the government has also been criticised for the lack of planning and poor execution of the scheme.
