Cuttack | Kerala achieved an outright seven wicket victory against Tripura in group C Ranji trophy cricket match at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
Resuming at the overnight score of 117 for no loss Friday, Kerala batsmen reached the winning target of 183 losing three wickets.
The opening wicket partnership between Mohammed Azharuddeen (99) and Bhavin Thakkar (47) had laid the foundation for victory before it was broken at 151, with Azharuddin unfortunately missing his century by just one run. Kerala lost two more quick wickets — Bhavin Thakkar and Jalaj Saxena – before Salman Nizar (not out 15) and Sachin Baby (not out 9) steered the team through to a valuable win.
The win helped Kerala’s prospects of entering knock-out stage live.
