Kochi | A batch of 23 scheduled tribe students and 13 teachers of a primary school in the forest region of Idamalakkudi in Idukki district had a memorable day out in their new world of Kochi city Wednesday.

The skyscrapers, dashing vehicles and the vast ocean on the edge of the city presented them amazing experiences never thought of.

The students and teachers of GTLP School were in Kochi as part of a study tour organized by Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan for tribal children.

The little boys and students were spellbound on seeing life-size tuna and shark fish and giant crabs. They were accompanied by four SSA trainers from Idamalakkudi, from where they walked 18 kilometers to reach Munnar.

It was for the first time in their life that the students were seeing the world outside the school, which is situated in the heart of a forest.

Their first stop was at Marine Drive, from where they sailed across the lake to Fort Kochi in a boat, wearing life jacket. They wondered on seeing ships on the Kochi port, for the first time in their life.
