Erode/Tamil Nadu | Senior Congress leader E V K S Elangovan on Monday expressed hope that Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao will decide on AIADMK chief V K Sasikala staking claim to form the next government after the Supreme Court gave its judgement on the assets case against her.

“It is correct as a number of criminal cases is pending against Sasikala. In the disproportionate wealth case, the Supreme Court will deliver its final judgment in a couple of days. So I hope the Governor will deliver his stand after the judgment,” he told reporters at the District Congress Committee office here.

Elangovan, a former TNCC President, was replying to a question on the stand of the Governor in not taking a decision yet on Sasikala’s claim.

He also said Congress was at present maintaining a neutral stand and would not support either Sasiakala or Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who has revolted against her.

Elangovan claimed that the electorate, especially women, would not support Sasikala in elections.

Referring to the woes of farmers in the wake of failure of monsoon, he said the government should sanction adequate compensation for the crop loss.
