Former AG RatnaSingh Passes away

Kozhikode: Prominent yesteryear legal practitioner and former Advocate General of Kerala M. Ratnasingh (92) passed away today evening at PVS hospital here. For quite some time he was under treatment for kidney related ailments. The body has been taken to his residence located at East Nadakkavu in the city outskirts. The cremation is to take place on Tuesday at 1 Pm in Mavoor road crematorium.
Ratnasingh, who was notable in lego-political circles for decades in Kerala, started his career as a junior advocate under the late Adv. K. Kunhirama Menon who himself adorned a throne of high esteem among the legal practitioners in the state. Ratnasingh was a specialist in civil and criminal laws.
Flocked feathers with Congress, Ratnasingh was the mastermind behind much criticised Congress-League-BJP coalition (Co-Lee-B) in Badagara during 1991 parliament elections. He contested the seat against K.P. Unnikrishnan of Socialist genre but lost.
Born to late Captain Dr. M.I. Achuthan and Janaki Amma, he started his carreer as advocate at Thalassery courts in 1953 and was an alumni of Ernakulam Law College. His bereaved family includes wife Savithri, daughters Sherin, Nasrin, Shamarin and son Adv. M. Shahirsingh of Calicut Bar.
