India 115-1 at lunch as Dhawan, Pujara fight to recover from early loss of Mukund

Galle | Second wicket partnership of Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan helped India recover from the early loss of opener Abhinav Mukund in the first Innings on the first day of the first cricket Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International stadium, here today.

Mukund, who opened the innings in the place of KL Rahul, was caught behind in the bowling of Nuwan Pradeep for 12, with just 27 runs on score board.

Cheteshwar Pujara (37) and Shikhar Dhawan (64) added 88 runs for the second wicket, and left the crease for lunch taking India to a promising score of 115 for 1.

Earlier, skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat. India have handed Test debut to all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings alongside Abhinav Mukund as KL Rahul was sitting out due to viral fever.
The hosts are being led by Rangana Herath since Dinesh Chandimal is unwell.
